Wetumka, OK — Late Sunday night, a fire broke out inside the popular neighborhood grocery store, Super C, prompting an emergency response from the Wetumka Fire Department.

The fire, which started inside the store, was reported shortly after 11:30 p.m. Fire crews arrived on the scene and were able to contain and extinguish the blaze before it could spread throughout the building or to neighboring structures.

Thanks to the quick response by local firefighters, no injuries were reported, and the fire was fully extinguished within an hour. However, the interior of the store sustained enough damage to warrant a store closure.

The cause of the fire is currently under investigation, and authorities have not yet ruled out any possibilities, although the fire appears to have started from inside the building.

As a result of the damage, Super C Mart will remain closed until further notice. Store management released a brief statement thanking the Wetumka Fire Department for their swift action and expressing gratitude that no one was hurt.

“We’re incredibly thankful for the quick response by our local firefighters,” the statement read. “Thankfully, everyone is safe, but the store will remain closed until further notice while we work to repair the damage.

Please note that our fuel pumps are also unavailable at this time.

We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this causes and appreciate your understanding and patience as we work through this. Updates will be shared as soon as they are available.”

Customers are encouraged to follow Super C’s social media page for updates on reopening plans. In the meantime, local residents will need to rely on nearby alternatives for their grocery needs.
